Alerted by our aurora app and closely monitoring solar activity, we embarked on a journey with a trove of equipment – three cameras, five lenses, and four tripods – all bound for Banks Peninsula, near Christchurch, New Zealand.

Amidst uncertainty and a last-minute decision, we found ourselves in the perfect spot. As night fell, I set up dual time-lapses and explored pre-selected vantage points, unhurried under the slow dance of the vivid aurora australis. 

Captured through the lenses of a Canon R5, Canon R6ii, and a specially modified Canon R6ii from Spencer's Camera, designed to accentuate the aurora's red hues.
